私は先生としての資格もないし、人と話すのも苦手でした。でも友達に誘われて登録しました。連絡がきたら会ってみて、だめなら断ればいいかと思いました。
登録してからしばらく連絡がこなかったので困りました。でも顔写真を載せるとすぐに連絡がきました。最初、レッスン場所をどこにするかで苦労しましたが、いい喫茶店が見つかりました。ほかにも同じように英語のレッスンをしている人たちがいるので、あまり周囲を気にせずに練習できる場所です。
生徒は熱意のある人で、教えがいがあります。いい生徒に恵まれたと思います。
I don't have any qualifications as a teacher, and I never considered myself very good at talking with people, but I registered upon the recommendation of a friend. I thought that if someone contacted me, I could meet them, and I was under no obligation to teach them if I thought things wouldn't work out.
After I registered, I didn't get contacted for a while, and I started to worry. But after I posted a photo of myself, I was contacted almost immediately. At first, I had a hard time deciding where to teach the lesson, but I found a good coffee shop. There are usually other people teaching English lessons there, so that means it's a good place where people can practice without worrying about the atmosphere.
The student who contacted me was very enthusiastic, and teaching that kind of person is fun. I've been blessed with a good student!

日本に来た当初、私も他の留学生と同じように、つらいアルバイトをしていました。大学に入ると勉強が忙しくなり、長時間のアルバイトができなくなりました。
そこで、「効率よく時間を使える仕事はないかな」と思って、語学の先生としてサイトに登録しました。
最初は生徒さんが二人しかいなかったので、居酒屋でアルバイトをしながら、家庭教師をしていました。でも、今は生徒さんが増えてきたので、アルバイトをやめて、先生として専念しました。普通のアルバイトより収入が多いし、自分のあいている時間を有効に使えるし、日本人に教えることで自分の日本語力もアップしました。こんな一石三鳥なお仕事、もっと早く始めていたらよかったのにと、くやしく思います。
Like most other exchange students, I got a tough part-time job soon after I arrived in Japan. Once I started university, though, I needed time for my studies, so it was no longer possible for me to work long hours at my part-time job.
I was looking for a job where I could use my time more efficiently, so I registered on this website to be a language teacher.
I only had two students at first, so I tutored them and continued working part-time in a pub. But after I got more students, I quit my job at the pub and only tutor now. Teaching pays a lot better than a regular part-time job, I can use my free time effectively, and my own Japanese has gotten better by teaching Japanese students. This is like killing three birds with one stone, and my only regret is that I didn't start teaching earlier!

今は自分の専門知識と会社できたえた語学力をいかして、あいている平日の夜を使って英語の文章を翻訳したり、土日に軽く家庭教師をしたりしています。
経済的にも余裕ができましたし、何より自分でスケジュールを決められる仕事ですので、家族との時間も確保できています。それに「うちのパパは英語の先生だよ」と、娘が幼稚園で自慢しているらしいです。なんだか嬉しいですね。

Now I'm able to make use of my specialized knowledge and the language skills I picked up at work by translating English documents on weekday evenings and tutoring people on weekends.
My financial situation is a lot better, and since I can set my own schedule, I can still make time to spend with my family. My daughter even brags to her friends in kindergarten that her father teaches English! It's a great feeling when your kids are proud of you.

I married a Japanese man three years ago. He's a good man and a hard worker, so I'm able to be a stay-at-home housewife. However, I got tired of being at home by myself all day and just cooking and cleaning.
I'm not alone anymore, though. Right after registering with Sensei Erabi, I was contacted by a student. I was surprised that everything happened so fast, but it was a pleasant surprise.
Now I teach Korean to several Japanese students out of my home. Korean TV dramas are popular in Japan, so the students are motivated and can pick up the language quickly. I love teaching because of the sense of accomplishment I get. I'm no longer just a housewife. Now I'm a Korean teacher as well! I still don't have that many students, but teaching is very fulfilling.
